5 Spoke SS Wheels...

Is there a difference in the paint colors or shading on the SS wheels between the 69 and 70 model years??

None that I know of, although I have seen some original wheels in which the charcoal inner area seems a bit darker than others... .I don't think it has anything to do with 69 vs 70, but rather the particular batch of paint or spray pattern/application used during a particular time. These wheels seem to "darken" over time too for some reason.

I have found some Canadian assembled Magnum wheels have a lighter shade of Charcoal for 1969 only.
It may be just the climate/conditions some of these wheels were subjected to over time. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif

Re: 5 Spoke SS Wheels...

We've had this debate b4, but never concluded anything. The question was if some of the '70 AO wheels had black inserts, rather than charcoal. Per a wheel article in Nova Times a few years ago, the later wheels in '70 were black - so I painted mine black. However, Vince Emme apparently has a set of AO's from Yenko still in the motorwheel boxes, and they are a very dark charcoal! So, I went and looked at an orig. owner, 12k mile deuce, they looked black to me - so mine are black.

What are yours Schoneye?

They're black now as over the years they got pretty seedy. Originally they were kind of a flat charcol with a bluish cast. I'm not sure how you would duplicate it. Almost looks like the laquer hazed from the factory. I have 3 of the originals from the Peck deuce, and they are the same.
