Ralley wheel question
I recently saw an ad for a "DG" code ralley wheel. "DG" is the 14x6 code for SS with disc brakes, however it also could have been used on a plain Jane coupe if the ralley wheel option was added. (This was the case on my 67 plain Jane coupe.)
In the ad the seller stated, [ QUOTE ] DG wheels have very different looking rally holes as I'm sure most of you know. [/ QUOTE ] Ok, I have a complete matching set of five DG wheels off my 67 coupe. However, they look like any other 14x6 ralley wheel to me. Am I missing something or are they really that special? The reason I'm asking is I'm considering selling my gold 67 RS and I was going to swap my AR Torque Thrusts and replace them with the DG ralley wheels off of the other car. If the DG's are something special, I'll probably keep them and just buy a set of repros. Any thoughts from the experts? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif |
Re: Ralley wheel question
The Colvin book lists the non-SS disc brake '67 wheel as DA and 14x5.
My experience with original DG Rally wheels vs. repro 14x6 Rallys is that the DG wheel is very deep in offset, about 4". Repros don't seem to be as deep in back--about 3.75". An original DG or DA wheel looks very shallow from the outside whereas aftermarket ones appear deeper and thus give the car a little wider track. |
