Electrical screw-up
I just replaced the alternator on my 69 Camaro convertible. Bacause of a screw-up in the voltage regulator the alternator put out 24 volts. The car ran about 5 minutes befor I figured it out. Now the headlights are very dim at low beam and only one side works on high beam. I replaced headlights and voltage regulator. I cannot figure out what I blew out. It is acting like the ground blew out somewhere. Any ideas????? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif

Re: Electrical screw-up
Chck for inline fuseable links that got too hot. They may not be passing the currrent like they should.
Look for a rubber hose looking thing with another about 5" on further in the same line. Usually on the wiring near the alt and another one on the headlights. Test on each side of it to see if you are getting full voltage. If you have a wiring schematic you can find them easy. |
Re: Electrical screw-up
I would also look everywhere for melted insulation in your wires and harnesses..you may have one circuit shorting into another.

Re: Electrical screw-up
Hot wires are ok, the ground wires are not grounding. I guess I will start taking apart thr wiring harness. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif

Re: Electrical screw-up
Before you start taking apart your wire harnesses ---clean your chassis & battery ground connections and check for continuity-----------
