What glass cleaner/cream for water spots?
 

Does anyone know of and has used a good deep cleaning glass cleaner for water spots? I've been looking at some cream type cleaners that sound OK, but I'm not sure what I can find in the local parts store or which is best. I have some original glass that looks beautiful, but at the right angle in the sun the water spots show. So far all I've used is windex and a 50-50 water vinegar mix. Any cleaning info or light polishing tricks (if there are any) would be great.

Paul this may sound kind of goofy but what I have done in the past is hit it wilh a HIGH preassure hose at close range like the ones at a local "do it yourself" car wash.....

at the old cabin the water was real hard and spotted the windows, I think as crazy as it sounds we used Vinegar and they cleaned up some really ugly spots no problem. give it a try and report back.

Try super fine #0000 steel wool.Won't hurt the glass.Gets off what windex won't.Earl

I am sorry to disagree with that suggestion but, I would not ever use steel wool. it puts micro fine scraches on Glass that will not go away. You could wind up with a dull looking spot there.

If you use most liquid chemicals, it will not harm glass. you may have sand pits in yours and you should try a magnifing glass to see just what your problem actually is before you do anything.

I have seen guys on our Motorcycle forum use 0000 steel wool to clean their boot marks off their chrome exaust and regret it later.

Glass and chrome are both hard & fragile, and both will micro scrach easy. If you have to clean them try straight Laquer thinner on a white rag. Watch out for your paint though. That is what I used in my body shop and it will take off most anything. If that doesn't seem to touch it then you may have a film on your glass and you can try a single blade razor blade held flat. Take your time and you can get the surface perfect and then windex it and wax it with a hard paste wax.

Never use a abrasive on Chrome or glass. Steel wool is a abrasive.

Clay Bar will do the trick. Use it on glass just like you would on paint and it will remove the water spots.

Clay bar works pretty well but laquer thinner does work extremely well on glass water spots.Laquer thinner is good for cleaning chrome also!Just be sure to use good clean white cloth and don't get any on the paint,don't saturate the rag just dampen it lightly and keep doing so as needed.

0000 steel wool and 000 steel wool will polish glass, not scratch it.

Go to your neighborhood auto glass company and ask them. I had my old glass in my 1969 polished for just a few bucks and they came out real good. NO problems! JMO Sam
