Chevelle pulls to right....need advice
 

I just pulled my Chevelle out for a spin today after storage for the winter. Over the winter, the left front tire went flat (it's fine after pumping it back up) and I also replaced the front sway bar upper bushings. Now the car pulls to the right when on a straight and level road. Which tire do I increase or decrease air pressure to stop the pulling to the right? Also, I tightened the bushings all the way down and maybe that's my problem, loosen one or the other? Thanks in advance.

Be sure both tires are at the same pressure at least 28 lbs.

be sure that you used the same bushings on both sides of your sway bar and they are tightened to the same tork settings?

If that doesn't cure it then pull one of the links to the sway bar loose completely and see if it still pulls. Car will not go around a corner very well so keep it straight and slow in the corners till you find out what your problem is?

If it does then you have a different problem. Hit any curbs with it or anything? Got a Teenager at home...???

I would pump the tires up to about 40 psi and run them around town for a bit. The drop down to normal pressure. Was it parked with the parking brake on ? Sometimes the shoes will drag.

Make sure the RF caliper is O.K. if disc brake

No teenagers at home to blame yet. My little guy is only 6 so if he's been sneaking out to race at night for money, I have lots of sleepless nights to look forward to!

Seriously, to answer some of your questions. Yes, it was parked with the parking brake on (manual transmission). As a matter of fact, I had the power booster replated and reinstalled as well as the parking brake adjusted just before winter set in. Now, the rear brakes will sometimes lock up when you apply moderate pedal pressure (front discs and rear are drums). I thought that might be a proportioning valve issue, but it's my understanding that my car does not have an adjustable valve. I remember reading somewhere that some Chevelles do have an another valve on the frame rail on the drivers side. Maybe this is all related. I feel like I'm chasing gremlins sometimes. Yeah, I know. This is fun stuff.

I always go back and undo the last thing I did when there is a problem like you have. that way you are not chasing your tail trying to figgure out just what the problem is. When you make too many changes at one time then you always have a problem trying to figgure out just where the problem may lie. Like Belair says what about your front brakes? Jack the car up and turn the wheels and if they don't spin with the same amount of ease then there could be a clue.

Trying to stop a pull to one side by adjusting air pressure differenly from side to side, is not the way to do it. A low tire will pull to one side, and they sometimes look full when they actually have only 12 lbs in them.
