Spiral Shocks

Does anyone know the application for Delco spiral shocks 3186994 front and 3192814 rear? I'm told that they are for a '69 Chevelle but my parts books don't show them.

3186994 was replaced by 3186997 7/67
3186997 was replaced by 3197660 5/69

3197660 Usage:
Group Sub Group Year USAGE
7.345 REAR 65 Biscayne w/H.D. Chassis (exc. Air Booster),
7.345 REAR 65 Pass. w/Spec. Frt. and Rr. Susp. (exc. S.S. Air Booster),
7.345 REAR 65 Pass. (Sta. Wag.) Taxi (exc. Air Booster),
7.345 REAR 65 Caprice w/Sp. H/Per. (396) (exc. Air Booster),
7.345 REAR 65-66 Pass. w/H.D. Susp., H.D. Chassis (exc. Air Booster),
7.345 REAR 66 Pass. (Sta. Wag.) Taxi (exc. Air Booster) ......

I really need a 67 and 68 parts book to do better. Anyone have a P&A 30 for sale for any years between 60-68?

3192814 is not in the 65-70 or the 65-73 parts history. Nor is it in the P&A price schedule for 46-75. So it is either an assembly line shock or it could be a front since the other number is a rear. Fronts were sometimes listed under one part number for the box that contained a different stamped shock. Does either of them have a two letter code sticker?

The number is in the 68-70 usage timeframe, but GM changed shock numbers during this time frame like changing socks.

I hope this helps,
Greg

By the way the usage was from the 62-70 parts book. None of these numbers were in the 60-69 or the 70 only book.

Can you double check 3192814 could it be something else?

Re: Spiral Shocks

The 3192814 is a front shock with an "SP" sticker. There is also 129 69 stamped on the shock as well. Overall length when closed is 11 3/4" tip to tip. The 3186994 is for the rear. A little dyslexia problem in the first post. The original front shocks from our car were 3192135 146 69. Both shocks have the same dimensions and travel.

Keith

I have a set of original NOS spirals and they are
3192814 for the fronts
3192813 for the rear

I was told they were Camaro shocks for SS 350 with multileafs.

I would like to know what the orig application was. If they arent for my Camaro, then I dont want them.

My date is the exact same as yours for the front shocks and they have the SP sticker on them

Re: Spiral Shocks

Are they with boxes? If not I will look up 3192813 On Friday when I get home and back to my books. Do they have a code sticker on them?

You have to find the part in the book that was the same year are your car. Later books list shocks that fit even if they were not ment for that car orginally.

For instance, in 72 the same shock is listed as fitting the Chevelle, Camaro, and Nova. If you go back to when the shock was first released you might find that it was a Nova only shock.

GM was in the business of moving parts. as old part dired up they were less selective what part fit what car as long as it worked.

I will let you know what I find later,
Greg

I dont have the original boxes for them. The front shocks (3192814)have a decal with "SP" on them. The rear shocks (3192813)have no tags on them. They "look" like they will work, but who knows. I would appreciate any info you could give me.

Well I struck out on both of these numbers. Did anyone check the Assembly Manual?
