1969 Chevelle F41

What did the F41 Suspension package consist of for 1969 Chevelle and did it change during the model year?

I believe it is similar to 1970 F41. Sway bars, shocks, and springs. Only about 700 Chevelles got F41 in 69.

What diameter is the F41 front sway bar. Our F40 bar is 15/16" diameter, and is the same as that on our other car which has the standard suspension.

Also rear boxed lower control arms.

The rear sway bar necessitated the use of the boxed arms...that is the easiest way to spot a '69 F41 car. Of course, everyone and their brother puts the pieces on non-F41 cars, so that changes everything.

I had a '69 L-78 with the F41, TH400, 4.10, Cortez Silver, blue interior with blue vinyl top, map light, buckets/console, and topped off with 2 buildsheets...unfortunately, I didn't learn how rare the car was until AFTER I sold it. I think an estimated 700+ cars in the Malibu/Chevelle/El Camino/Wagon line got the F41 option.

It's funny Chevy was not first with the F-41? My 65 442 had it as part of the 442 package including metalic brakes. It was about the only muscle car in 65 that would go fast, corner reasonably well, and be able to stop!

1970 was when Chevrolet starting making the F41 a Standard part of the Chevelles Super Sport option group.

T Billigen,
It's a shame how the Oldsmobile just got left behind--I always considered the 442 the best all around performance/ handling cars of the supercar-pack back when----They use to call it the "Gentleman's Supercar"---JoeG

I agree, the 66 tri-power was probably one of the hottest street cars. They would run circles around the GTOs. In 68 I ordered a W-30, it ran well but I did have some problems with it. I ended up trading it in on a 68 Camaro. This 396-375HP was by far the hottest car I ever owned!
