Dating original Delco batteries?
 

Do original Delco batteries used in 67-69 have date codes? If so, where would it be found and what format would it be in? Thanks.[img]/ubbthreads/images/icons/confused.gif[/img]

Yes,they were hot melted into the top ofthe case.Also on the Orignal boxes too.You should see it if it is there.It will be on the upper left of the battery, and look like this. P 7 T which is 1969-July-Anderson Plant.Also look on the bottom right of the box,for a ink stamp code.
I have an R59,R79,R89W NOS delco Batteries still in the original boxes.They have date codes similar to the example shown.

How the heck do you get 1969 out of a P?

I'd like to find an original and usable dated battery for a 6B 1967 Camaro.

They used their own system of dating.It was not a convential code like other parts were dated.
I think your application would be a Y59-yellow script battery.But don't quote me as I don't have my book in front of me now.

The R59S is NOT a Camaro battery.No Camaro ever came with it.You need the regular R59.There is a Difference.
