1970 Chevelle info needed ASAP!!!
Does anyone here have a 1970 Chevelle with or without ECS (emissions)? Does it have the fuel tank vent tube system mounted behind the rear seat like the 1971-72 Chevelles do? Any help is appreciated.......RatPack........

Re: 1970 Chevelle info needed ASAP!!!
The 1970 EEC system was manditory on California sold/delivered cars and uses a non-vented gas tank with a fuel vapor seperator mounted forward and above the fuel tank. It is attached to the underbody and has 4 seperate fittings. 3 to the fuel tank and a vapor line running to the charcoal canister mounted on the front drivers side frame rail. There are different canisters depending on which engine came in the car. These also used different carbs and PCV valves and a mirad of rubber lines.
If you are trying to build one from scratch, good luck! Very expensive and hard to find nowadays. Rick |

The 1970 Calif.Emissions system,or NA9,never did have that trunk chimney like they used in 1971-72 Chevelles.
The 1970 system was actually deemed a bit unsafe in the case of a rearend collision. That Chimney set up was all new for the 1971-72 Chevelles, and beyond. |

Thanks guys! You confirmed my suspicions as I have a car here that I had to do an appraisal on and I thought it might be a bogus car. It is supposed to be a 1970 SS but this thing has a 1971 body because it has the "chimney" in the rear plus numerous other signs denote it as a 1971.............RatPack......
