502 in a 68/69 camaro
Has anyone heard of putting a 502/502hp in a 68 or 69 camaro? I'm thinking of pursuing such a goal. I'm new to the camaro world, so I'm asking for reasons for or against it. This would definitely not be a daily driver, most likely a weekend driver. I'd like an extremely powerful off-the-line street-legal camaro. It needs to be able to compete with the 502 el co in town, and the assorted 5.0 stangs, rice rockets, etc. I live in a very vehicle-diverse town as you can see. Any other suggestions? I don't have the engine or the car yet. I plan on buying the engine first, so that's why i'm inquiring. Would I need to make any modifications to the car besides using a ford 9" rear? Thanks for the help.

notmiller,
This site is devoted to people who are interested in restoring cars to factory or dealer prep specs. I think that you are on the wrong site for asking this type of info. Andrew |

Re: 502 in a 68/69 camaro
As strange as it may seem to the other site members, we are just now starting to get ready to install a 502/502 into a 68 Camaro for a friend. It will have a 4 speed and a 12 bolt with 4:11's. As we get into the project I can give updates as to what we will find along the way. The car should really run well I hope. This is not a cheap upgrade....
