I sent the original smog tubes from my COPO to Mike Gibbons at Brake Boosters/Detail Plating. He plated them black zinc which produced the greenish color. They passed Legends judging without deduction.

JJR, Ive read about Black Zinc , so Im glad to read that's what you had done....
If you look at other Clear Zinc and Yellow Zinc on your Restoration the zinc plating has a brightner applied over the zinc.......... Hard to tell but I'm guessing your smog trees are not to shiny, so maybe no brightner ???? Can you find out ..........Thanks |
Black Zinc is what I had done with mine. Look like new. Trans dipstick tube is also the same...Joe

Apparently their is ACID Zinc Plating & ALKALINE Zinc Plating
They are quite different (GOOGLE) with different finish "looks" Anyone reading this have experience/knowledge on what kind of Zinc Plating looks correct for the smog "trees" |
