Cragar SS center caps paint
Have original Cragar SS rechromed. But does anyone know the correct blue paint and where to buy it?
Tks. Doug |

I use a testor's "sapphire blue". Not sure the number, but there's probably only 1 choice at your local hobby store. The 8 are repainted, the single is original untouched.

Wow. Perfect. Nice work.
Thanks! Doug |
DRC Bowtie, after replating your center cap was the center texture look still intact? Got a picture of one of your replated caps?
Thanks |
also - who replated them? I need to have 4 redone of the vintage ones with out the R on them.

When first introduced the S/S wheels early center caps had more of a turquoise color before changing over to blue. I just kept tinting it till it looked close, can’t help with an exact paint color. |
These local guys did my S/S caps about 10 years ago.https://courtesymetalpolishing.com/
Came out beautifully. |

The key to doing these caps is to NOT compromise the inside pebble grain area. Hard to do, but doable. they always have to put a layer of nickel and chrome over it, and it does lose some of the grainy look. Here is an NOS one .

This is a picture of a set of NOS non R caps I bought off eBay few years back. To me the blue center looks like the one Eddie posted.
