Moog 6308 Coil Springs

I have a pair of Moog 6308 front coil springs that I installed not knowing the finish is incorrect for judging. I called Moog and spoke to Rick in tech. I asked him what coating is on the springs and he said a water base air dried black paint. Has anyone tried to remove this coating before you installed the coil springs.

Try a little mild paint stripper :)

I think so. I tried sandblasting my Moog Springs, and it was a no go. That paint was harder than a hooker's heart.

So how did you finally remove the coating from the coil springs.

Removing paint

Take them to any chrome plater and they can dip them and remove it with no problem..

I believe those springs were dipped in black as I have used them many times . I used a commercial paint stripper to get most of it off . The blast cabinet took care of the rest .
