Sounds like Steve sold the engine although likely knows to who/where it went, also may have an old picture of the Orange Copo ‘Velle as below Visitor Message he posted on Bruce’s profile page. Best of luck getting it back where it belongs, welcome aboard also please share more of your 9737 car, it’s a great group here who all really love pictures too! :beers: ~ Pete 05/23 Visitor Message on Bruce’s page… Hello! I'm Steve Reese (1969L89Corvette) and I hope you are able to assist with my request. I have information about a 1969 COPO 427 Chevelle that is not listed on the COPO list. I would like to add the car to the list and I do have supporting information. I did own this engine until recently and have searched for this car for several years with no luck. It was sold new in Denver, Colorado at Burt Chevrolet and was a Kansas City built car. VIN- 136379K466428 and engine is dated as T0603MQ. She is a 4 speed and the car is an original orange. I have a photo of it racing at a local dragstrip. Let me know what information you require to have this listed or do refer me to who maintains this portion of the site. Thanks in advance for your assistance! Steve Member 1969789Corvette’s 05/23 original Post w/ 9737 engine noted… https://www.yenko.net/forum/showthread.php?t=125832 . |
Little more history on car. It has not been repainted . I have done a title search and got back to that 72 time frame. but the first owner was not picked up by the search . The car was ordered by burt chevolet of denver. I found there dealer code on the build sheet. I used to do business with them - burt parts - when i ran my shop. A parts guy shared that 75 was there dealer code. As all of you can guess i had all but given up on the engine and bought a ce block to build and put in the car.
the car is solid without indications of any body work. the guy i bought it from had taken most of the parts from the ft clip. Been collecting parts for 20 years - decided it was time to put it together Bob |
Way cool! It would be great to see your progress on the car.

Is it known where the car was when owner #1 sold to #2? Also, are you saying #2 bought it in ‘72 or do you know for sure when #1 sold it? If any help, here’s a couple old Colorado Newspaper Ads, I saw others too but they noted different features or recent paint etc, first one may be most interesting from Fort Collins 11/70. Looking forward to more of your car, including pictures also hearing you’ve landed the original engine! :beers: ~ Pete . |
#1 owner I always assumed traded it in at Stevenson Chevolet in Aurora. but as i have on record until 1972 I don't know for sure if he was the only owner.
I seen in a post from 1969L89corvette that the owner of the motor befor him had taken the motor out before he traded car in at Stevenson. I have not been able to get in contact with 1969L89corvette yet. - thanks Bob if there is one regret I have is not taking a typeing class when i was in school! |

I saw the post above and I own a COPO 427 engine from a 1969 Chevelle that was delivered new at Burt Chevrolet in Denver, Colorado. The car was built in Kansas City (last of vin - K466428). Sadly, the car may be lost to history as I have been unable to reunite the engine with the car. I would like to add this vin and I do have photos to support the claim. Tell me how to proceed and I will send you what I have. Thank you, Steve Reese (1969L89Corvette) this is a post from 5-23-2022 |
Bob, you're doing just fine posting on this forum. Best of luck in your search!
