Cast Blast Finish
I'm working on painting the frame and components on my 1968 Corvette. In the past, I've used Duplicolor Cast Blast aerosol paint for springs and associated suspension parts.
Would like to get a single stage mixable for use in my spray gun, but can't get a solid match at Finishmaster and would prefer not to spend $15 per spray can to do this. Anyone have a good brand and color recommendation? Thanks - Blair |
My response does not directly answer your question, but here are 2 examples of products I like on bare metal. Springs and spindles are good applications for each in lieu of "paint" type coatings.
Tim RPM https://www.ebay.com/itm/16425980374...qUWvyhbMQxeNTA CRC SP350 https://www.ebay.com/itm/33454989332...BoCzfQQAvD_BwE |
I like the look.
Based on your experience, how does the finish look when applied to media blasted steel? |

Lloyd Costley uses the RPM quite a bit. You may have seen his thread over on camaros.net. If not, here is the link. I've had multiple takeaway's from Lloyd's work. https://www.camaros.net/threads/1969...roject.337897/ |
I understand the concept of using a Rust Inhibiting Product on Cast Iron and Misc Bare Steel
Parts so as to make them "LOOK" Original.............. Even though Im building a show car restoration that will be judged at the Camaro Natl's I'm just fearful of RUST spots starting somehow, somewhere. I'm planning to coat my Spindles, Brake Rotors, Sway Bars, Center Link, Coil Springs, Leaf Springs and a few other items........with misc shades/colors of CERAKOTE C Series (Air Cure) Anybody (besides Rick N) have experience using COSMOLINE or FLUID FILM ???? How about CORROSION X ??? |
I’ve used Eastwoods cast bast and Aluma blast before. Both were nice.
