Fathom Green 69 Z/28 on BAT

Looks to be a pretty honest car. Mostly a survivor. Someone added a ducted hood and most of the style trim (but no all).

Yep, that car is very legit.

Are there any doubts about the originality of the tag, engine, or driveline? I'm fighting an urge to bid.

I don't think so. My only question (and it is only a question) is the POP, just because I do not know how to spot a fake. Reach out to KurtS on this site. He would likely be able to tell. I think everything else looks good, other than the added style trim elements (headlight bezels, gills and fender trim).

Lots of well preserved original markings.

All stampings are factory on driveline. Its the original. Also has a McNeish report. Cowl tag is original and does not appear to ever have been off the body.
This is one of the few good ones on BaT.

I had a chance to buy and actually talked to the guy who owned a 69 Z-28 exactly like this back in 1975. He had it up for sale for 1,800.00 dollars. Absolutely no rust on the car. He ran the car at a local drag strip a few times where i lived and just had the 302 engine balanced and blue printed. I backed out buying it. I kick myself every time i think about this. I am sure some of us have stories like mine. The bids are strong here. Great car and documented well. McNeish approved?

Nicest and most original 69 Z I have seen in a long time, even has power steering, which is rare on these. I would love to own it and finish it out with smog, etc. This should go well north of 100K. That firewall and trim tag is a great reference for what they should look like.

There are two mentions here of a McNeish review. I'm not seeing a report or reference to it in the auction itself?

Jonesy 01-15-2026 05:15 PM

You are correct, there doesnt appear to be a McNeish report on this. I have been looking at too many Z28's lately

Still a nice priginal Z

Hi guys,
I am the one that asked for a photo of the rear differential casting number on the BAT F. Green car.
I rarely post anything. The only reason I asked for that photo is to see if there was another 860NF rear differential on a late car. (10E)
Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this but I own the Norcam Lemans Blue 10E car that I bought in 2020.
I had a McNeish data analysis report done on the car 2 years ago.
Jerry states that in his professional opinion that the engine, transmission and rear axle are real and authentic to the car but the rear axle has an unusual issue. Typically what he has documented over his 30 plus years or so is the 341NF. He goes into more depth on the report.
When my car was on “Members Rides” in 2019 (Norcam) on this site there is a photo of my rear differential casting number. 3894860NF. Bit blurry but I can make it out. Page 27 of 41, post 261. Not sure if you can see the old post.
The casting date appears as I288. Rear axle, peened “C” BU1028G1 with E under that as well as the number 5. The BAT FG Z28 also has this #5.
Again, I apologize for the long winded reply and if this is the wrong place to go on about it.
Cheers.
