'70 Monte SS454 / 4-sp / Build Sheet
I don't believe any 4-speed SS454 Montes were built, and I can't read the build sheet well enough to discern all the lines, but I'm assuming it shows it was originally equipped with a TH400. Looks like the original engine is also long gone and has been replaced with a more modern BB based on a Bowtie aftermarket block.

It almost looks like someone wrote over the printing on the build sheet to make it stand out. If so, a mistake in my opinion.

Conveniently over the turbo 400 designation.

Doesn't the "CR" in the trans block of the build sheet tell us something?

You are 100% correct. Forgot to look at that.

This Monte has been well known for a while now to have been modified & not as advertised.

----Obviously a built Monty, but I really like it. I would love to drop an after market factory style shifter handle in there, just to confuse people more. For me the exhaust is a mess, and there are a few other issues, but how much fun would it be, especially if even a bigger engine was added. Something like my 93 Suburban's 510 cu/ 570hp/ 650 ft/lb killer....Bill S
