This Chevelle was sold new at Central Chevrolet in Springfield, Massachusetts, to Herbert Hodge on July 2, 1970. Provenance: It remained in Springfield until Joe Verrillo purchased it in 2019. Documentation: Includes the original window sticker, warranty book, Protect-O-Plate, chassis broadcast sheet, and owner's manual. An interior trim code sheet was also found in the seat springs during restoration. Authentication: Authenticated by Chris White of Classic Concours of Upton, MA, with two vehicle inspections performed. Restoration details This Chevelle was restored to the highest concours quality with meticulous attention to detail. Condition: At the time of restoration, the car had 35,000 original miles and had been in storage since 1984. A state inspection sticker was still displayed on the windshield. Exterior: The Tuxedo Black finish was precisely restored. The body, noted as exceptionally rust-free, was media blasted, body worked, and repainted. Exterior components: A new black vinyl top, new dated soft-ray tinted glass, high-polished brightwork, and chromed bumpers were installed. Wheels/Tires: Retains all five of its original Code AO rally wheels with matching dates, riding on new reproduction Goodyear Polyglas F70-15 tires. Interior: Professionally restored to factory original form, with black vinyl, A51 Strato-Bucket front seats, a D55 center console, NK1 cushioned steering wheel, U14 special instrumentation, U63 AM push-button radio, and U80 rear speaker. Chassis: Floors and body panels were media blasted and finished in the factory semi-gloss black. The frame was media blasted and powder-coated in a low-sheen black. The control arms were finished in high gloss black. Brake caliper brackets were finished in the factory gold Cad plating. All new fuel lines, brake lines, and rubber hoses were installed. Driveline components (original) This Chevelle retains its original "born with" driveline, a rarity for these cars due to their history of being driven hard. Engine: Casting #3963512, Casting Date E 7 70, Assembly Date T0527CRV (May 27, 1970 LS6 4-Speed). VIN stamping matches the car. Cylinder Heads: Correct 3964291 Casting #. Intake Manifold: Correct Winters Casting #3963569. Exhaust Manifolds: 3909879 (left) and 3916178 (right), dated D 28 70. Carburetor: Original Holley List #4557, date code 013. Distributor: Original LS6 Specific 1111437, dated 9L11. Alternator: Original 1100837, dated 0c4. Master Cylinder: Original Casting #5470409, dated 104 BB. Brake Booster: Original Part #9391, dated 29. Radiator: Original PA Tag XJ+1F Tanks, dated D. Fan: Original factory-installed undated version #3976064. Water Pump: Original Casting #3969811, dated D 18 70. Starter: Original 1108418, dated 0D28. Pulleys: All original GM installed pulleys. Transmission: Factory installed Muncie M22 HD unit, production date May 22, 1970. Rear Differential: Factory installed 12 Bolt Unit, assembly date CRW0527 B2 (4:10 Posi-Traction May 27, 1970 Buffalo Gear & Axle 2nd Shift). Casting # 3969278 NF, casting date E 8 70. |
Strange that the car was built in Flint MI and delivered to Springfield MA I would have thought Framingham or Baltimore build
