LS6 Chevelle reunited with the original engine.

A few years ago I purchased a 1970 LS6 project car out of Alberta. The car had set in a farmers field a few hours north of Calgary for over 20 years and other than a few spots in the lower floor areas and wheel openings the car is pretty solid. Since buying the car I’ve been able to collect NOS quarters, fenders, stainless, weather stripping, emblems, all the correct engine components and a CC0 warranty M22. Last week I got a text from the person I bought it from saying they had been contacted by a guy named Alex Millar and apparently he had the original engine out of my car! I just about fell over lol. I got the contact information and gave Alex a call. Turns out Alex is a jet boat builder/collector as well as a car enthusiast owning a COPO Chevelle and a few other muscle cars. He had recently bought a Cougar Jet Boat with a 454 in it and when he got checking it out realized it was a CRV LS6 454 with a Leeds partial vin on it. Luckily through a few avenues he was able to track the car down to me and reunite the engine with the car. 👍🏻

I actually found one on eBay. It’s an old pot metal emblem. 👍🏻

I read his thread about discovering it was an LS6 on Team Chevelle and he was attempting to find info on the owner of the car. Very cool that the engine found it's way home.
Any history from the person you bought it from as to why it was removed and where it went ?? Seems it may still be in his name, since ownership was tracked to him ?

I believe he found the last owner by the GM of Canada docs and the LS6 registry.
