A good friend and Shelby guy was at the recent 50th Shelby National event held at Sonoma Raceway and sent me some pics. Anyone know of the history of this 67 Douglass Camaro? Looks to be a neat car for sure....

----Have to say WOW! I've never heard of this Camaro. Very cool. Wish I could see that storyboard a little better....Bill S

Jim Swan from Motor Sport Research bought it new to go Trans-Am racing but never completed it. It was a white '67 Z-28 and it is in the '67 Z-28 Registry. Warren Fairbanks and two other partners bought it from Jim and finished the race car conversion in '69 but did not race it in Trans-Am until the 1970 season.

Mike Joy had it a Watkins Glen a few years ago. Yes that Mike Joy from Nascar announcing fame.
I don't know who was driving it that weekend. Mike was talking to someone else at the time so I didn't get to talk to him. I'll have to dig deeper to find pics of it on the track. The year was 2022. |
Owned by Rick Jeffery as far as I know. I'm not aware of him wanting to sell it but I guess that's possible. http://www.historictransam.com/Drive...7Camaro96.html

You're welcome. I missed the blue tape when looking at your photos.

It looks like Jack Douglas sponsored a Can Am car, also. Are you familiar with this one, Bill.
This is a picture from Road America/Elkhart Lake. |
