A few NOS parts
8 Attachment(s)
I picked up a couple , what used to be, NOS hoods and some emblems this weekend. The hoods were in their original GM boxes, but the Florida humidity and being stored in the rafters of a building did not do the hoods any good. For the most part the rust is minor surface rust, but one of the hood has 2 spots that are a little worse than surface rust. I don't want to sand and prime the hoods, so what would be the best way to neutralize the rust for now. Should I use a store bought rust inhibitor?
I also picked up some emblems that the boxes are not in very good shape with the hoods. Thanks for any help. |

Those parts are perfect candidates for non-acidic, chemical cleaning. I have large parts cleaned this way and then dipped in EDP for 100% coverage.
Obviously, you aren't going to use the same place as it is near Milwaukee, WI, but I would call and ask them if they know of a similar business in the central FL area. This is a link to the business and, no it isn't close to me, but I feel the 600 miles R/T is worth the result. Hopefully you can find something similar closer to your local than I have to travel...:cool2: http://www.metal-cleaning-rsi.com/ |
Thank You for the information. I will research this process and see if there are any facilities around my area.
