70 LS6 4spd Conv

$600k for a White LS6 4spd Conv at Mecum, quite a #. Seems like the Mopars are dipping and the GM stuff climbing,?

There was an extensive photo album with this car. Here are pictures of the engine and transmission stamps along with the trim tag and the signs that were by the car. The signs just say the car has a correct drivetrain, but the photos show the VIN stamps on the engine and transmission. I talked to the owner and we said the car has its original drivetrain. He said it was kind of rough when he found it and was painted Cranberry Red with black stripes. They didn't find any build sheets when the car was restored, but he had the GM of Canada paperwork. The restoration was just recently completed and he never even drove the car. I don't believe he had it inspected or certified by anyone. I was surprised it went for as much as it did. Was this a known car?

Tranny stamp looks reworked. smooth and "P" should be a little different.

I’ve seen that more than once on Baltimore built Chevelles. This particular car not only has the 8 instead of the B, it also has an 8 instead of a 0 for the model year. My buddy owned a 70 ragtop many years ago that, just by chance, was built on the same day as this LS6. It has the same error, 188 instead of 10B. I would guess all the cars built during that shift were stamped that same way.

FWIW, the engine stamp looks good to me.

I think the term correct speaks for itself.
