Scammers are using ads/photos from classifieds and reposting to Facebook
1 Attachment(s)
Scammers are copying photos/ads and reposting on facebook. It is happening more frequently in the last few weeks. Here is a screenshot of a FB ad that was stolen from Jason's ad here (SuperNovaSS). Note these scammers "hide" behind fake names and google voice phone numbers and are usually based overseas.
I propose making classified ads visible to paid members only to solve this problem. |
Jose, thanks!
This has been brought up and talked about in the recent past. Let me get with Steve... |
Good looking out Jose. Was is my deck that gave it away?

Jose, I will look into perhaps adding a watermark to pics. To do that I would need to add picture hosting which adds to site maintenance costs. I am waiting on hosting cost estimate. Not showing sale adds to non-contributing members would impact those selling because 75k guest and non-contributing members visiting the site monthly would no longer see classifieds ads.

It was a combination of the writing style, how the photo was taken, and yes the deck of course. I can always spot a JB ad from a mile away. JB |

I too abhor this practice, but have also sold to new members (not necessarily paid members) that I believe created a profile here to specifically message me to buy something I have listed here, and no where else...
