Vintage Chevy rubber floor mats- paint?

Found a very good pair of original Chevy front floor mats for my 72 Nova. But the problem is they are a faded tan. I want to paint them black. Heard black tire paint works well on these mats. Has anyone done this with your mats? What should i clean the mats with before painting? Read that Dupli-Color makes a good rubber black tire paint. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Rubber Floor...

Nova rubber floor coverings are hard to get...and worthy of proper care/presentation.

I would look at SEM products as an option...great quality and reputation.

Good thorough cleaning...vinyl prep...then several light coats of SEM color should do the trick.

If you have suggestions on what to use for crack repairs and patching,I am interested. I am restoring the original set for my 1978 Nova 9C1 POLICE CAR.
