Aluminum wheel repair company

Had some curb rash to repair on my wife's daily driver. Took a chance with a new company - Alloy Wheel Repair Specialists. Franchise deal that comes to your location and makes the repairs. They offer full service repairs/straightening/replacement if needed.

Pretty happy with the results - only $125 to make the repairs for this instance. Included 2 spots on one wheel. Took about 30 minutes.

Before and after pics attached........

Virtually unnoticeable.
Did you watch them do this? What exactly did they do?
Did they fix it while the tire was still on?
Did they re-plate the rim?

He has a trailer that is a mobile shop. Workbench/spray booth. I removed the wheel/tire from my wife's car last night and he came to my office this morning. He left the tire on the wheel. Whole thing took about 30 minutes. He progressively grinds/polishes the damaged area with normal looking body shop tools then re-sprays the clear and/or color. On these he was going to use a colored clear process that I felt would look worse than leaving it natural after the repair was made. I can notice a slight line where the repair was done and the factory clear coat starts/stops but to me this was much better than adding un-natural color to the wheel. These wheels don't see winter use so I'm not worried about oxidation, plus the repair area is relatively small so if it does oxidize a little it won't be a lot of work to polish it out.

This particular guy is out of Byron IL and covers the Rockford area east to about Marengo.

Trailer has everything he needs including a generator and air compressor.

Is there anything mankind can't do with a mobile trailer today? :)

Good question Bill. They did not dismount the tire and assume the very minor amount of material they removed wouldn't affect the balance? Car seems to drive fine afterwards.

I'm sure it's a liability issue to them,so why not address and cure it if it need be and stay on the side of safety.
Wheel weights are in ounces or less. After seeing that repair,I'd imagine they could throw a wheel out of balance by that amount.
