Drag Racing returns to Long Island
 

As the news on Drag tracks seems to be nothing but closings lately, delighted to see that Drag Racing is FINALLY returning to Long Island. This is a "trial run" and the area is hoping it will become permanent. The facility is a closed Grumman/Navy aircraft manufacturing facility where they built F14 Tomcats. The facility has both 10k ft and 7k concrete runways that are honestly in incredible shape (I have personally been on them, my car was photographed there for an article that appeared in Musclecar Review).
Should be great and hope that anybody in the area can get out and support it

Exact reason EVERY track is gone from LI except Riverhead Raceway, which ironically, is located in the SAME township, Riverhead.! This place is 3x the size of Laguardia airport and is so polluted by decades of aircraft manufacturing, there will probably never be anything of significance done there. Oh yeah, last time they used both runways.? They packed them of full of perfectly good cars from the "cash for clunkers" fiasco, joke...

And that is why I hate living here. The highest taxes in the country, and nothing to show for it. If these people only cared as much about the enormous potholes and lack of street sweeping as they do about the baby birds...
