That is stunning. Although I was never a fan of the golds growing up, I absolutely love them now and that OG is sublime.

Isn't it strange how our taste in colors change as we get older? When I was in my early twenties I had a Forest green 1970 Z28. I wasn't a huge fan of the color; in fact, a few people commented how ugly the color was.

Now I think it is one of the better colors for those cars and would kill to have my old car back.

----Well,,,,,In the spirit of admitting to a whopper of a mistake I will elaborate. I bought a 69 L-88 Corvette convertible with somewhere around 4000 original miles in 1971-72. The car was flawless. It was Monaco Orange, with black leather. It had been treated to a very big HP boost as well over top of just normal L-88 numbers, but no body modifications. After a minor altercation to the rear end between the bumpers, I (I'm admitting my guilt) decided to strip it and paint it black. The Boston Autorama was in my sights and I also had a black 32 highboy with a Buick nailhead in it that I wanted to have in the same booth. You can see what I was getting at, can't you? Well,,, I can't. Absolutely have no idea what was running through my head. I take the blame! I'm guilty. Apparently I didn't like the coolest color Chevrolet had on their pallet in 69 and decided all on my own to desecrate an icon. I think I'll go to bed now. This admission has worn me out...….BillS

That’s a lot like me. Never would have thought I’d own a Gold car when I was younger, but now I love my OG/Dover White 69 and so many people seem drawn to it as well. Maybe because it’s different or maybe it just seems mature and classy.

Base coat/clear coat makes those colors like OG, frost green, and Burnished brown jump out. The clear gives the color depth that old laquer on it's best day couldn't. Plus the UV rays killed what ever shine those colors had in the 1st couple of years.

SMS, your Chevelle is absolutely beautiful, wow. Best looking one I've seen in a while and I don't remember too many 1969 SS's in that gold. Any idea what the production in that color was for SS's? My neighbor had a 1969 Chevelle 4 door that was gold, but the color never looked as good as yours does.

It mentioned that only 2 1969 Olympic Gold Yenko Camaros of the 10 produced had white stripes. The Nankivell Chevrolet sold Olympic 69 yenko recently found is number 3. See that post for pictures.

Thanks. There were a lot of gold Chevelles, 44k or so, but the two tone OG with painted Dover White top was ordered 5075 times. That's all Chevelles/El Caminos. I don't know the quantities for SS cars only in these colors.
