TH400 Transmission Tag restoration

Does anyone know where I can get a TH400 transmisson tag background restored. I have an original TH400 trans tag but the only thing left on the tag is the stamped items. The background is gone and I want to have it reapplied around the original tags stamped data. I dont want an reproduction tag. Has anyone done or know of anyone who does this? Thanks

Someone was selling decals that you can apply to your tag and get the colors back. I'll see if I can find that info.

I was in the same boat as you a couple of years ago. My tag was pretty beat up. After unsuccessfully trying to find a company that could restore my tag I decided to recreate the artwork myself. The problem I ran into was that a silkscreen type process was not capable of achieving the resolution of the letters and lines from my artwork.

I was fortunate in that the company I worked for had the capability to take my artwork and create a cliche from it. Once the cliche was made (essentially a negative from my artwork) and the bare metal cleaned up a bit, a specialized machine (almost like a pad printer) was used to lay down the ink in the negative. The end result was a restored tag that is nearly identical to the original. I've attached a couple of before and after pictures of the tag.

I'd be happy to provide you (or anyone else) the artwork I created but I no longer work for the company that helped restore the tag so I'm afraid I can't help in creating additional tags. Armed with the artwork, you should however, be able to find a company that can make a cliche and lay down the ink on your tag. BTW...the rivet that holds the tag to the transmission is still available from GM using part number 8622361.

Hope this helps.
