hi guys

sorry.........had to restart the thread as i could not see how to add the pics of the block to the original thread

so as started it is:
- a 4 bolt main
-0010 casting
-010 020 nickel block
-prefix stamp T0606CTB

1970 nova
car retains its original key fob and trunk dealership emblem
sbc
with 2110 intake
202 #186 heads B.19.0 AND B.18.0 dates

4 spd M21
12 bolt 4:10 posi-trac

i could not find any date casting number on the block?

thx
chris

Chris - Sorry to say the block has been decked and the T0606CTB re-stamped. You can faintly make out the previous stamp code "YZ" under the CTB.

100% a restamped block. 1 No broaching on deck 2 also a YZ shadow from past stamping 3 machined lines from deck being resurfaced. Who ever stamped it didn't do their homework on fint and tonawanda built engines. Sorry it turned out this way. To many people think they can get away with stamping blocks and a lack of knowledge.

Man! I agree that when you see the stamping distortion over a decked block it seals the deal.

I do have to say that the characters themselves probably would have fooled me, had it not been for the obvious decking.

Agree with the others.
The casting date is in the same area as the 3970010 GM casting on the top of the bellhousing area, but on the other side (passenger side) of the block. Its in the form "Letter"(letter of month, A=January), space "two digit number" (day of month), space "single digit number"(last number of year).
Sucks it turned out to be a re-stamp.

Definitely a restamp, No way the stamp fonts would be that “crisp” after decking, looks like it was decked on a Storm Vulcan block master . A lot of the fonts are incorrect too.

Does it have the small 1/4” front square head plug above timing cover on pass side?

No doubt about it but sorry to see it's a restamp too.
Seeing the Central swag, is this for the CG car you alluded to being an LT1 Copo Nova a few years back in this thread...

thanks guys

that is why i ask you guys.............. as i do not claim to be an expert

i must admit that i did not see the very faint YZ until it was mentioned here
great eyes guys................it is very unfortunate that there are people out there that feel they have to do this kind of thing to screw people

lucky for me it was in the car when i bought it and i did not pay big dollars for the block separately believing it was something it was not

i have been reading threads on this site about guys buying big dollar blocks to find they were re-stamped..............that would tick me off as well

thank you all for the assistance...........another question answered

i will continue working on the deuce & this car
not a big deal......just another fart in the wind!.....LOL

thanks again guys

cheers
chris

Possibly a truck block from 1975 TYZ ? The decking machine may have dug down deep enough to take out the T maybe? St. Catharine's, Ont. foundry truck blocks have the date cast on the side of the block in large casting digits.

Nope, urban legend, those are just mold identifiers.
