69 Nova automatic to 4 speed swap

Hello-
Need more guidance. I am swapping out the column shift TH350 for a M20 Muncie. The car will NOT have a consol. The question is can i use the consol transmission hump for shifter clearance?
Thanks,
Chris

With bench seat or buckets minus console...the bench seat style shifter was used.

Didn't the Nova have a bucket seat no console Muncie shifter too, like the Chevelle?

The factory, crudely, just torched a hole in the stock tranny tunnel/hump to allow access for a bench/no console 3/4 spd shifter

shifter...

I'm not aware of a third shifter option with the Nova...it makes sense, but I've never seen one. Perhaps there is some assembly info or parts book numbers out there..??

I do know that the sound deadener that was installed under the carpet in the Nova...had a perforated cut out in the material for the bench seat style shifter.

If someone were doing this swap from a 3-speed column to floor M21 would you just install trans and measure up for the hole? Or is there an other way to measure without cutting hole in the wrong spot is all.

Just to be safe, I'd install everything and see where the shifter you are using will line up with the tunnel. Unless there is another way, you're just guessing were the hole should be. If you had another Nova with a factory setup to get measurement from, that would be the cats ass ... TAZ

nova floor shifter...

I have seen the measurements posted on Steve's Nova Site...if you visit there someone can help. As I mentioned, the factory sound deadener has a perforated knock out for the floor shifter...this was the same even on column shift cars...if you remove the carpet it should be easy to see.
