Transmission codes on Framingham Build Sheets for 69 Chevelle
I have seen a few different codes in box 28 of Framingham Build Sheets. Unfortunately pieces of the build sheets are not present so I can't reconcile the code with the nomemclature of the transmission that came in the car. I have seen XD, XF, and XI. I am assuming one code is for a M-20, M-21 and M-22? I have looked on the web and can't find anything. Any one know?
Thanks |
I can only tell you what my 69 Chevelle build sheet shows, I don't know if it would match up to Camaro build sheets.
I bought it new, small block 350, so I know it all matches the build sheet. Box 28 on the tank build sheet is XG, and the transmission option list on the sheet shows M20 4 Speed Trans. I assume it is the wide ratio. Viz |
Thanks Viz...My 69 Chevelle L78 has the XD code, but the original tranny is long gone. So assuming it was a M-21. I saw a build sheet on another 69 L78 Chevelle with a M-22 and it was coded XI. Both Framingham cars. Viz is your car a Framingham built car?
Would like to know what all the codes stand for on the build sheet similar to what you can find for Mopar. I only have a partial build sheet for my car. The left side of the sheet that shows up to box 96. |
My Framingham built 69 L89 Chevelle has XD in box 28 corresponding with the M21

My Framingham built 69 L78 Chevelle build sheet is coded XF in box 28 and also calls out the M21 Trans on the options.

Well I guess my theory does not hold water then? I guess XD and XF were M-21. Hopefully someone will chime in with a M-22 and has a Framingham build sheet.

Perhaps the rear end ratio also influenced the build sheet code?

Could be?
box 29 on my build sheet is KF Option callout is G80 3.55 Posi Axle |
These are the codes I have for that box from different build sheets in my records. I will check some of the Framingham ones and see if they have anything different.
XC- M20 XG- M20 XD- M21 XF- M21 X1 or XI - M22 take care Andy |
Checked several of the build sheets and portions and they seem to only use the codes below for the four speeds. the other codes may be used but I do not have any examples of them.
XC- M20 L48, L35 XG- M20 L35 XF- M21 L78 XI - M22 L78 take care, Andy |
