Need a 621 Bellhousing
A friend of mine just bought a 1969 Chevelle that has the wrong bellhousing. I'd like to help him locate a good original 621 BBC bellhousing... preferably one close to home here in Alberta, because he'd like to get the car back together and on the road asap.
Thanks! |
621 bellhousings
Doug Perry has three for sale, on page two. in the for sale section. BBBenny

Take a look at ebay and craigslist. 621s are plentiful and seem like they've been going for less than $200.

I have 2. One early one Late. Both perfect.

not to steal the thread...just curious what's the difference early and late? my car has one and I always assumed it was correct...I just want to check. thanks |
Late has GM and the 621 on the starter side. Early has GM on top center and cannot be seen when installed.

Edit: I just got home and checked the three that I have. Late must be considered after 1969 or 70. The other two 621s I have are stamped GM on the side unlike my original that's stamped on the parting line. https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/372/31...10815054_z.jpg |
I'm not sure what the break point is. Maybe someone will chime in with more info.

For anyone looking for the OP and they don't know what is early and late, here are the three examples I have... The center is early (Aug 69). There's been plenty of debate on how to decode the dates, so I'll leave that alone.
