My idea about the 4 wheel drive Demon (Hellcat)
I follow the hellcat because I have a 70 challenger, and its natural for one to do that. I don't know all the details about the car other than its horsepower, really, and the color changes year to year.
The new demon changes are really cool see coming. I just saw today, the huge huge huge hood scoop (bigger than any car to date) is going to be used. When I look at my 65 vette, the first year of adding a bulge in a corvette hood because the big block sat too high and they had to modify the original hood lines, I have to wonder if (dodge) is paving the way on the demon to allow raising that 700 HP engine to allow for the all wheel drive. Sometimes guys with old cars see thing like this. To me this is a trick hiding in plain site now. |
its not going to be awd. Blown and 800 hp and 300 lbs lighter with a cool ac refrigerant cooled intercooler. Going to come with drag radials too

That will be dangerous if there is a from leak into the combustion chamber. Mustard gas exhaust!

I know why the hood is marketed now (more air for the rear wheel drive version), but once its out there, and people get used to that look., it will be easier to reuse it to move the engine more up into it later to support a 4wd version. They could easily get more air another way by using one of the head light buckets on each side.
Here is a clip showing the monster hood... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qdph4VakKWg |

Here is a clip showing the monster hood...(and maybe even air entering the inner headlight locations). You got to study it a few times to see it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qdph4VakKWg |

Yep, I was right there with ya. Just making a (bad) joke. |
If I had to guess Id say they probably pipe a duct to the intercooler to blower over it to cool the charge.. BITD Holley used to offer a NOS kit for the Subaru WRX and it was eccentially the same idea; they had spray bars that went across the intercooler and it would spray nitrous across it to lower the temperature.. They actually used my old 2003 WRX as the test car..

I don't know if everyone is reading all the new press on the Demon. About all I got right is the air does come through the headlights as well as the hood scoop to help the engine breath.
Just so many firsts on the 840 hp beast: First factory car to lift front end off ground for a 3 ft distance Can delete passenger seat to save weight Uses the cabin's air conditioner (diverted) to cool super charger air. I probably need to reverify this, but pretty sure I read it right. Too fast for NHRA rules (sub 10 second car) Can run on 100 octane as well as lower octane list goes on... Engine is different that the Hellcat in more ways than most would think. Production limited to 3000 cars. just google dodge demon and you will keep yourself drooling for quite a while.... http://www.dodge.com/demon.html |
