1970 455 W30 Dyno Results
I thought I would share my results on a recent build. This engine is the original engine for our Black W30 four speed. The specs are 100% original except for a half point lower compression. and a complete blueprint. Ran with the stock camshaft, intake, carb and exhaust manifolds. No tuning on the QJet just a quick timing loop. Timing didn't seem to matter between 31 and 36 degrees.
With stock manifolds. TQ@ 3800 485 HP@ 5200 410 With Headers TQ@ 3800 514 HP@ 5400 441 Ken Maisano |

Wow nice work Ken! They do appear to like the headers...

Nice. What was the original compression ratio?

Ken...WOW!

Just a bit of Maisano Magic.
.....Nice work! Just goes to show that the 370hp rating by OLDS was a bit understated, while the 500tq was close. |
Re: 1970 455 W30 Dyno Results
Stefano, you know I love you, but I will disagree, the factory numbers were very close if not dead on. This is a result of a master engine builder doing a proper blue print, and assembly. I am sure you will agree as others, that a proper blue print and assembly in most cases can be, as we see here, at 10-12% increase in power. Problem is, there are not that many builders left that can do this with these old engines. Kenny specifically wanted to keep the motor as true to original specs as possible, the only deviation was dropping the compression from 10.5 to 1 to 10 to 1 … this is where we see the slight drop in torque, he did this to ensure no issue with 91 octane gas. We will post a video of the runs and the dyno results tomorrow.

Scott -- When I bought my 69' W-30 442, one of the selling points was the advertised "select-fit" 400 engine ... is this what you are referring too above? Thanks ... TAZ |

And see the "rest" of this car along with some equally impressive cars in the much expanded MASCAR display at MCACN this year! Bashton |
