PayPal Foreign Funds Transfer Question

Have any USA residents here ever received money from outside the USA via PayPal? I have another member here who would like to purchase something from me and pay using PayPal, but I am leery of their sometimes exorbitant fees. We're talking about a $50 fund transfer. TIA.

Re: PayPal Foreign Funds Transfer Question

Bill,

Have him P/P the funds via family & friends so no fees on either end as long as it comes from a bank account or P/P funds. Credit cards will have fees if done that way. I have had regular P/P transfers and I don't think there was fees like what you are talking about. Have the buyer pay using a check and wait for it to clear so no money was spent on M/O if that is an option for the both of you.

Bill, I have had made many PayPal purchases from the Australia to the US, some with members here, and never had any negative reports.

always make the foreign buyers pay all the fees...its normal etiquette..it shouldnt cost the seller money because the buyer is not in the US

if they cant get it in their country...well, then they have to pay the fees involved

i quit shipping stuff out of the US...takes a lot of time, theres a lot of hassles, id rather keep it...but thats just me

i sell out of the country a lot..as long as they have a US address to receive it..

Sold some parts to a member here. Went to Aussie land. PayPal used. No issues.

Based on what you sold, any guesstimate how much I will be charged by PayPal to receive $50?

As I recall, there were no fees involved with the transaction. Used family transfer as suggested.

Figure 3.5% P/P fees so around $1.75 if done the normal P/P way through eBay.

Mark,

I have bought lots of parts and various other goods, and imported a good number of cars from the US, and I have never had a problem with any of the sellers, in fact everyone of them has been great to deal with and several have become friends. We don't have the luxury of just popping down to the local parts store, or going to the big swap meets to get what we need for our American cars.

Gonna give it a shot and hope for the best. This is not an eBay transaction. I was just worried that they would charge me $10 (or something equally ridiculous) on a $50 money transfer from outside the USA. Thanks to all who have responded here
