Lifter bore groove

Anyone here have any experience with using a tool such as the Comp Cam 5003 to "groove" the side of the lifter bore? Supposedly provides extra lube to the camshaft/lifters. TAZ

Makes me uncomfortable because there's no going back if there's an oil pressure problem after this modification. I suppose lifter bores could be re-bushed if somebody grooved the bores and didn't like it afterwards but re-bushing is an expensive operation that requires a competent machinist. It also makes me wonder if oil is sacrificed from going up the pushrod because of these added grooves. GM obviously saw fit not to do it for many years. Peace of mind concerning lifter/camshaft wear could probably be alleviated by using flat tappet lifters with the tiny EDM weep hole on the bottom along with quality oil that still has the zinc in it.

Thats kind of what I thought -- seemed you could cure one potential problem and create another. I have the EDM lifters ready to install and will probably use a 15W50 (possibly JGR) with the heat down here is south Texas. Thanks for the response Mark ... TAZ
