Who here knows 1968 Chevy big cars?

Today I stumbled upon a claim - not the first time - about front side marker overlays being red, and that a running change was made. Today's post said only Canadian 427 cars received this.

I've always had the idea that the red was just the overlay that changed color with age. Is there anything documented that proves that more than one lens was available, like a running change? And what about them being 427-specific? And even for Canada?

Thanks!

There were three different types for the Impala. The black and silver foil "SS427" inlay which was used on early Z24 cars, the all metal embossed "427" side marker used on late production (and all of the 427 big cars but non Z24) and the red "427" foil inlay. It is also my understanding that some Canadian cars received the red foil inlays. I have never seen any documentation on the emblems in all the years I have owned or researched these cars.
