How to identify a BE heat treated rear
 
I believe there was a discussion on how to identify a copo heat treated 4 series carrier in a copo rear end... but I cannot find it...

John. The part number on the flange last 3 digits are 234

Regarding the &quot;heat treatment&quot; I believe that was only for the Ring and Pinion, not the carrier.

While the carrier was different and some special parts were used, I don't recall anything other than the Ring and Pinion getting anything special heat treatment wise.

For future searches, here are all the BE KQ goodies that allot of the BE's are lacking.
The carrier is a standard 4 series and is machined differently inside.
