INSTALL LIC PLATE LIGHT RIVETS
 
WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO INSTALL / COMPRESS THE REPRODUCTION RIVETS THAT HOLD THE REAR LICENCE PLATE LIGHT BRACKET TO THE BUMPER

You can heat them and take a tool a and hammer them down and you take a chance of messing up your bumper what I did was take a die and make threads put a nut on it then grind the edges so it feels like it's smashed down

I put mine in a hydraulic press. Looks factory

I started with a metric bolt which had a head larger than the rivet head, and shank the size of the original hole. I put the bolt in a hand drill and spun it while grinding against a bench grinder. After a few minutes, the head was round, and I kept grinding until it was just a little thicker and a little larger diameter than the rivet head. Then I chucked it in a drill press, and used a file to do the final shaping. After bolting up, and installing the bumper, you have to be a contortionist to know it's not a rivet.
