NEW SEAT COVERS ON THE NOVA
In the next couple of weeks I'll be removing the front buckets and rear seat of my 1970 Nova to bring them in to be recovered. The seat part of the back seat just pulls out.Is the back part of the seat attached? Will I have to undo or unfasten it anywhere to get it out?Any help or tips are appreciated.Thanks,Bill.

Re: NEW SEAT COVERS ON THE NOVA
The Nova rear seat bottom section is held in place by two hooks built into the floor...the hooks attach to the spring steel structure of the seat. Just use your knee to push the seat bottom back towards the trunk and lift up the seat bottom will pop out.
As for the upper section....there are mounting tabs in each corner that need to be bent out straight for removal...there are also 2 small threaded bolts with large washers that attach to the metal support between trunk and back seat. It is a good idea to have someone help you remove the two seat sections from the car...that way you avoid damaging other parts of the interior. This is much easier if the front seats are removed first. Be careful not to rip the factory insulation pad behind the rear seat back. I also wrap the seat belt buckles with a rag to avoid damage. Hopefully you will find some interesting items under the seats...not counting old French fries wilma |

Re: NEW SEAT COVERS ON THE NOVA
If you have rear arm rests, I recommend you remove them before trying to take out the seat back.

Send your soggy French fries and used chewing gum to Tommy. He has a vintage museum with these things in it.
