I have an interest, but thought the 116 casting is the over the counter service replacement of the original assembly line intake which was 110 casting. Can you confirm?

The 3972110 is a production 1970 only intake for Corvette, Yenko Nova and Z28 Camaro with 350ci 360-370 horse motors. This intake has NO hole in the front for the oil filler tube.These are date coded underneath the oil splash shield on the bottom.

The 3972116 is a near identical casting.However, this intake is a service replacement or over-the-counter part.Meaning this was NOT used at the factory assembly line on motors that were installed in cars.While they look similar, the 116 intakes generally have later date codes on them underneath the oil splash shield on the bottom (although some have been found that have 1969 dates, leading many to believe that this intake came on factory motors). A crucial difference that makes this incorrect for the restoration crowd --this intake has an oil filler hole in the front which is often capped with a freeze plug, and two additional threaded holes for heater hose fittings (that makes three more holes on the 116 manifold than the 110).

McNeish's book refers to the 116 as one that "may" have been used on a production car, but I don't believe one has ever been found.

I have one that I purchased over the counter in 1976.
