69 Camaro 12 bolt housing WIW

Gentlemen a friend of mine just picked up a 12 bolt out of a 69 camaro. BT coded 355 posie. It's just a bare housing he's considering cutting it up for 55 chevy project. I think I've talked him out of cutting it up. Is it worth anything or should he hack way. Thanks

I would be interested in it if it is a clean unmolested housing dated March of '69.

It definitely has good value, especially if it's straight, not heavily pitted, and not welded on.

I say cut it up.

Seriously, if it has survived this long in good condition then it deserves to get a good home back under a Camaro.

I believe the date is K189 could it be for a 70?

Wouldn't it have a 3 letter code to be a 70? My late 69 (08E) 12 bolt has a 3 letter code....Joe

Pending what it is, I have a 3.73 posi 12 bolt set up for a Tri-5 application that I could work a trade with.

Unfortunately he decided to use this 12 bolt on his 55 chevy. I tried.

The K189 date you posted is probably from the center section...not the axle tube. The axle tube date would not have the year...just the month and day. I don't have my book handy but a "K" date would be later month in 1969. If the axle stamp is a "BT" and not a "CBT" then it would be out of a late 69 Camaro...CBT would indicate 1970 Nova 3.55 posi.
