Vent Window Alignment

Can anyone help me with the an alignment problem I have on a Chevelle vent window? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...403_medium.jpg
If you look at the picture you can see that the glass is so poorly aligned that it hits the window frame. Is there a way to adjust this to get the window to close? Thanks in advance for any ideas on how to fix this.

Yes, the vent window can usually be adjusted. I assume this is a 66 Chevelle, that I'm not familiar with, but my 3 cars all have vent windows, and they are all adjustable. Remove the door panel, and you will see adjusters on the vent window frame, and/or the pivot.

The upper hinge pivot pin is bent. I have bent them back by opening the vent enough to grasp the upper vent glass and vent frame and squeeze it back into position. You can take it apart and bend the pin by laying the edge of the glass and frame on a piece of wood and tapping the pin and checking the alignment until you get it to fit. ----Willing to bet that sometime in this cars history someone attempted (possibly succeeded) in breaking in to your Chevelle. This happened to me twice. Once with a Corvette and once with a 442. They get a pry bar under the glass and get it out far enough to grab it and yank it open. In a Corvette it strips the vent window winder. In a Chevelle its harder to do but they just break the twist lock......Bill S

Thank you for the help. I will try to apply a little muscle to this to see if I can bend it back into place. I will hope for the best. Unfortunately, many of my "tweaking" operations end up being a "breaking" then replacing operation.

Finesse works well with muscle so if possible use both. Clint

Re: Vent Window Alignment

take it to a glass shop Bill. They have helped me out in the past on stuff. No breaking pot metal/white cast parts either.

Thanks for the help with this. I did make some progress but still a long way off from where I would like it to be. I also tried the auto glass shop (the only one with a couple of older guys working there who still work on the old cars) and they would not touch it. So I am looking for a good pair of used vent windows with frames.
