Unique 1972 Hurst SSJ Delivered...
8 Attachment(s)
Just wanted to post some pictures of a 1972 SSJ that I just had delivered a few days ago.
It's a car I've been after since around 2002 when I first learned about it. Here's a brief list of the goodies on this one: - Hurst SSJ Digital Computer (only one I've seen in my 28 years of following these cars) - Hurst-installed mobile telephone ($2100 option at that time) (only one I've seen...) - Hurst-installed alarm system - American Racing 200S wheels - power everything! - electric seat back locks - 455 engine - interior, underhood, trunk lamp group - factory 8-track w/ red-dot stereo - cornering lamps - El Clasico package added on top of the Hurst conversion on this car consists of: - mini refrigerator - mini wet bar - gold plush carpeting - landau bars - padded vinyl top with reduced size rear window - chromed metal nose plate 61,000 original miles - restored car due to neglect. Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WtWRC...ature=youtu.be More pictures to follow... A very interesting note regarding the "El Clasico" package: the company, WISCO, that did this advertised this modification for Cadillacs, Rivieras, and "other cars". They were located at 27670 Groesbeck Highway in Rosevile, MI, which is also the same address the Hurst SSJ GPs were sent for their 10-day conversions. WISCO (aka Webasto International Sunroof Co.) did the Hurst conversions and these El Clasico conversions under the same roof, and this Grand Prix received both conversions. I'm concluding that the original buyer, a doctor out of Kentucky, ordered the SSJ conversion as well as the El Clasico conversion at the same time. Hurst simply subletted to WISCO to get the SSJs done, all the while WISCO was doing Cadillacs, Buicks, and probably just about any other line. Other options WISCO offered at the time: television, bar, safe, rear deck wheel, plush carpet, custom upholstery, and curtains. I didn't think I'd like the landau bars in the pictures I had, but this car is very striking, and very unusual. Sadly, I had to part with my recently acquired 71 GP 4-speed, but this car is one heckuva replacement! Harvey |

Congrats on the purchase and how about bringing it to MCACN 2014, November 22-23? I am sure it would be a hit and lots of fun! [email protected] Bashton MCACN Managing Member |
