1971 Raleigh Chopper 3-Speed Bicycle
This is a 1971 Raleigh Chopper by Sturmey-Archer in Nottingham England. I restored it several years ago as a sibling to my original owner 1970 Chopper. Over $500 alone, was spent on rechroming the major steel parts and sourcing NOS parts. It is a beautiful piece of 1970's childhood history.
The white seat is the original seat and is in extremely nice shape. The red line tires are NOS. The shifter is NOS from Sturmey-Archer. If you are an aficianado of these 1960s-70s muscle bikes, you know how hard it is to locate all the original pieces like the Raleigh acorn nuts, stamped bolts and all the other extraneous Sturmey-Acher items, like the logo'd sprocket, 1971 reflector pedals, and 1971 brake levers that separate an average restoration from a correct restoration. $650. I would prefer to have the buyer pick the bike up in person and have to risk shipping it. You could ride it home, too. Somebody buy this so Steve can fix his Suburban.

Re: 1971 Raleigh Chopper 3-Speed Bicycle
Very clever Charley! As you can see I am having a garage sale so I can bring the Suburban back to life.
We just got back from Christmas tree shopping and can you imagine what it's like having to stuff an 8-foot tree into the trunk of a Chrysler 300? I felt like Clark Griswald. Luckily my daughter was smart enough to bring her car too so the rest of the family could somehow find a way home while me and my new tree friend used the Chrysler. I know that someone, somewhere has today's family tree buying adventure on youtube by now. |

Re: 1971 Raleigh Chopper 3-Speed Bicycle
Excellent point Eddie. Are chains an option for this sweet ride?
