67 427-435 Corvette
 

What are the things to look for on a 67 435 Corvette besides the engine block numbers and the tank sticker to verify it is truly is a 435 car. Thanks in advance.

To name a few 6500 tach redline, 80lb oil pressure gauge, rear sway bar,caps on rear showing 427[390 400 435hp], transistor ignition holes behind grill.

----Also, little known would be the lack of a hole on the drivers side firewall for the ballast resistor, as there isnt a Ballast resistor on a TI equipped car, and every 435 was TI equipped. Any one of the above mentioned items is a first step. If you are unsure of anything, get qualified help!!! You will never regret the money spent to hire the right guy to check your "find" out. Tachometers and oil pressure guages can be switched out easily, but there are ways to tell if they have been changed that I wont divulge on the internet. Stampings and broach marks are harder for the untrained eye to catch (even the trained eye these days). Dont be macho and think you can figure it out. You will probably loose.......Bill S

And unfortunately all of the above could have been changed or modified, which leaves you with only the tank sticker [real one] as being proof positive .

Or a Real window sticker, protector plate or bill of sale which can be verified by the NCRS for a nominal fee

documentation = 1. paperwork, 2. physical evidence, and the third leg of the documentation stool.......3. ownership history (with signed affidavits and contact #s).

There's lots of junk out there made up to look like a 435 horse car.

In 1967 all big block Corvettes were produced in St. Louis. While the trim tag will not denote HP option, it is very important the check the originality of the tag. If the tag indicates AO Smith, you know you have a small block despite how the car might be optioned.

The 435 horse motor was a four bolt main block with a larger oil plug by the oil filter. The 390 and 400 horse motors had a small plug and two bolt mains. There's also an additional bracket under the master cylinder for the TI wiring harness.

The original rear axle flange on L 71 cars have a special "0" marking in the 7:00 area on the flange. Means rear axle was shot peened sometimes also marked with a "+" sign.
