DULL ROOF DRIP MOLDINGS

Roof drip moldings on my 1970 Nova are a little dull.I'm thinking of gently rubbing them with 000 extra fine steel wool and then using polish.Anyone ever done 'em this way? Thanks,Bill.

That's fine if they are stainless steel. They make an 0000 and 00000. Use the finest grain steel wool you can get. The only problem is the tiny microscopic bits of steel wool that get left behind. After you polish the trim make sure you blow off the car with some compressed air (driving it fast doesn't count due to the boundary layer effect! )

Then wash the car, dry it and then use the polish.

All this paranoia is for the simple reason that just one tiny remnant of that steel wool getting rubbed into your paint will leave a very visible scratch.

(learn from my experience )

Another option:
I have polished SS window & drip rail trim ON the CAR.
Carefully mask off any thing that could be damaged by a slip of the hand.
Hit the swap meets tool stalls and picked up a variety of 1/8" shanked "DREMEL" style buffing wheels. Chucked them up and used a stick of SS rouge and polished away. I was very impressed with the results, not a good as a pro polish off the car, but with min layout of $CASH$ and lots of care and taking my time, the finish was a huge upgrade. Maybe a little hillbilly, but Hey- it Really worked.
