Re: Door hinge pins
Here is a post I wrote on Team Chevelle when I rebuilt the door hinges for my convertible. I hope they are helpful.

I have the hinge pin removal tool, but the lower pins just won't budge - it's at the point where I'm concerned what I'm mushrooming them because of all of the hammering! Wrong tool? http://www.eastwood.com/media/catalog/pr...27b0/p23671.jpg I liked the post & pics of the Chevelle pin removal, but the Nova hinges aren't quite the same. |
Re: Door hinge pins
Did you soak it good with penetrating oil? Is the top one still in enough so that you're not getting a bind? Have you moved it at all?

Re: Door hinge pins
Did not spray it all. Top one is still in, so no bind. It has not moved at all, I'm thinking of unbolting the hinges from the body and finding a way to grind the top off the pin, (?).

Re: Door hinge pins
Marlin I have found it is just easier to remove the hinge from the car and then the door. But before you remove the hinges drill a 1/8 hole in each hinge top and bottom so you can relocate them with a dowl pin. Or you can scribe a line around the outside of the hinges to relocate them. I have that door pin removel tool kit and it is useless on Novas. You just can't get the right angle to give to tool a good hit with a hammer. Good luck...
