Connecting Rods
I want to use original BBC 3/8" connecting rods for my 396 build.
My question: Are the good 3/8" truck rods made of the same material or as strong as a 3/8" dimple rod? I have a set of the truck rods and have no problem having them resized and updated. FWIW...I won't use any rods made in China! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/hmmm.gif Thanks, Kurt |
Re: Connecting Rods
Just use your 3/8 stock rods resized with some good bolts you will not have any problems, as in any good rebuild balance your rotating assembly

Chevrolet had their act together by making every SBC, BBC, and W-Motor come with Forged connecting rods instead of cast iron construction like most Pontiacs and other manufacturers. Heck, even up until '67 or '68, almost every Chevy V-8 also had Forged steel crankshafts! |
Re: Connecting Rods
I had a set of 7/16" rods lined up to purchased and was talking to someone who said that they are not necessary for the motor I am building...which I agree with.
Being that I have 2 sets of the HD 3/8 rods I will just have those gone through unless a set of dimple rods show up without breaking the bank. |
