Re: 1969 nova SS L-78 for sale / original drive train
Just realized this is an 07D car...that has to be one of the last 69 L78's made. Engine casting and assembly date are only a week apart...and it is an #854 block, too. I'd be interested to know the delivery date written on the POP...probably sometime in August. This car is very similar to our 70 Gold L78 TH400 car...built in early July 1970...all of the assembly dates are close to the cowl date. This may be a common thing for end of the model year cars when the factory was preparing to change over. Things may just have gone a little later in 1969...cool car. Do you know what kind of kickdown switch was on the carb..??

Re: 1969 nova SS L-78 for sale / original drive train
delivery date was 10/4/69
don't know about the kickdown switch the nova came with this radiator http://i617.photobucket.com/albums/t..._radiator1.jpg http://i617.photobucket.com/albums/t..._radiator3.jpg http://i617.photobucket.com/albums/t..._radiator2.jpg http://i617.photobucket.com/albums/t..._radiator4.jpg and a 9B dated 499 distributor one of the heads was a 291 and the other an 840 seems like the line was using up the parts they had available at the end of production https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif |
Re: 1969 nova SS L-78 for sale / original drive train
That's pretty late in 69...the 70's were already out. That is a curved neck 4 core Camaro style 69 radiator...interesting. I've heard of these engines having the mixed heads before...are both heads large 13/16" plugs..??? Cool stuff https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif

I have seen a 300 horse 350 engine with one 041 head and one 186 head from the factory.
